SideShows – Debuting at SDCC 2011 in spectacular fashion!

SideShows-CoverExciting times here at camp Carpet Bomb Comics! We are just under two weeks from debuting SideShows to a massive audience at San Diego Comic Con. We’ve kept most of the details about this book well under wraps, but now that it’s coming out officially, we can share some details with you. In the coming days, we’ll show you little glimpses into the world of SideShows, starting today with the pitch. SideShows is something that popped into Erik Hendrix’s mind late one night driving to Las Vegas with his wife, Amanda, and her grandparents. In the haze of exhaustion mixed with blurry headlights, the idea crept in. Arcana Comics is releasing the book, starting with a limited “Launch Edition” only available at SDCC this year in the Arcana booth, 2415. When the book is officially released through Diamond in a few months, you’ll see something slightly different, so be sure to get the SDCC version if you can track one down!

Now for the pitch!

In 1950’s Las Vegas, the mob enlisted former circus attractions as their aces
in the hole. These SideShows had a little secret… They really did have the
abilities they pretended to.

The Rat Pack was in their prime, the bartenders knew your name, and the same
guy who comped your rooms could put a hit on you for stiffing him a tip.

High rollers, lounge singers, cigarettes, alcohol, and superpowers.

Welcome to Las Vegas.

If you look closely at the cover here, you’ll see something interesting, too… A quote from Mark Waid, writer of everything under the sun including Irredeemable with BOOM! and the upcoming DareDevil relaunch. What did he have to say?

“Energetic, dynamic art and a great story. I enjoyed this thoroughly, and you will, too.”
What got him so excited about the book? You’ll just have to pick up a copy and see!
