Here is the process for my Superman Redesign cover.

First the rough sketch to get page shape and character pose (I’ll be honest with you, I think I captured the action pose better in the rough sketch than the final version).

I scanned the tiny sketch into photoshop, blew it up, added a couple of guidelines and then printed this out. I used a light box then to draw over this basic outline to get the final version below:

This was done with pencil, gray markers, and a bit of black ink pen. I did a few tweaks in photoshop on this to fix some proportion issues, but this is pretty much the final image before color.
